Claude Code is Anthropic's agentic coding tool in your terminal. It speaks MCP, so MemoryPlugin connects over the Model Context Protocol and your facts and chat history from every other AI tool are available while you code.

## Set up

Use the remote MCP server as your primary integration. There is no install and nothing to keep running.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Add the MCP server">
    Add MemoryPlugin to Claude Code using the [remote MCP server](/integrations/remote-mcp-server) URL.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Approve access">
    Sign in and approve when prompted. Your memories and chat history are then available from your next session.
  </Step>
</Steps>

### Local MCP server

If you prefer a local process, configure the [local MCP server](/integrations/mcp-server) instead of the remote one.

## What works here

* **All 12 MemoryPlugin tools over MCP.** Claude Code can recall and save memories, recall your chat history, and search your uploaded files.
* **Cross-tool context.** What you told ChatGPT, Claude, or any other connected tool comes with you into the terminal.

## Limitations

* No browser extension in Claude Code. The connection is entirely over MCP.
* Capturing your Claude Code sessions back into MemoryPlugin: a desktop sync app is coming soon.
* Whether Claude Code calls the tools each turn is up to the model. If it forgets, ask it to check MemoryPlugin before answering.
