With the browser extension installed, open ChatGPT’s saved-memories screen (SettingsPersonalizationManage memories) and click the Sync Memories button the extension adds there. Every memory ChatGPT has stored about you is copied into MemoryPlugin.

The short version

1

Open ChatGPT's memory settings

In the browser where the extension is installed: SettingsPersonalizationManage memories. (OpenAI moves these around; you’re looking for the screen that lists your saved memories.)
2

Click Sync Memories

The button with the MemoryPlugin logo is added by the extension. It shows progress like Syncing (3/12)… as it copies.
3

Keep the tab open

The sync runs in the page, so don’t close the tab or switch conversations until it finishes.

Worth knowing

  • Imported memories land in your General bucket. Move them into other buckets afterward if you want.
  • Re-running the sync does not create duplicates, so it’s safe to click again if you’re unsure it finished.
  • Nothing is removed from ChatGPT. This is a copy, not a move.
  • This imports ChatGPT’s saved memories, not your conversations. For those, see Chat History.
