By default, MemoryPlugin only joins a chat when you invite it. If you never activate the chat, no memories go in. Here is how to stay in control of each piece.

Keep memories out

  • Don’t activate the chat. No inject click, no memories. This is the default.
  • Using auto-inject? Every new chat shows an Auto-injecting memories prompt with a 5-second countdown. Click Cancel and that conversation stays memory-free.

Keep chat history recall out

With Chat History Recall on, the AI can pull context from your past chats. Two ways to stop it:
  • For one message: include #nohistory anywhere in the message.
  • Per chat: when the Add chat history context? prompt appears before sending, choose Skip this chat.

Keep a conversation out of sync

  • Before it happens: auto-sync is off by default and per platform. Leave a platform’s toggle off in Settings under Background Sync, and sync manually with Choose chats… to hand-pick what goes in.
  • After it’s synced: exclude the conversation from the Chat History dashboard. Excluding deletes the chat’s content and vectors and stops it from ever being re-imported; a placeholder with the title remains so you can undo later.
Exclude stops a chat from coming back on future syncs and uploads. Delete just removes it now, and it can return the next time that conversation syncs.
